After an enquiry from an anxious London household for a couple of wardrobes, Barbara (our Lead Designer) visited their home expecting a simple 2 wardrobe fit-out…
It wasn’t until she saw the 100+ pairs of shoes, endless handbags and a hoard of designer clothes that she realised their storage problem was much larger than even they had thought.
Our solutions included designing 2 large replacement slide-door wardrobes in Walnut with full-length smokey grey mirrors to reflect as much light as possible in a dark passageway to the bathroom. In the extra deep wardrobe, we seamlessly incorporated a large double-sided pullout shoe rack to house nearly 100 pairs of shoes in 90cm depth and barely 55cm width!

Built-in shoe storage
In the remaining section of deep wardrobe we incorporated deep shelf storage for the handbags at the back, behind front long hanging and drawers, more hanging and shelves in the regular depth second sliding wardrobe.
Next, to the man of the house… who also needed some wardrobe space. We built these into the alcoves in the bedroom either side of the chimney breast as this space wasn’t currently being utilised. Although the alcove spaces were very different sizes, we designed 2 fitted double wardrobes with marquetry Walnut patterned panels within a solid Walnut frame to match the other sliding wardrobe doors – we are very clever indeed!

Double Wardrobe Interior
Together with hanging rails and shelves, we also used the shallowest section of the wardrobe built over the chimney breast for shoe storage – utilising all of the available space.
To complete the task we added some bathroom storage cabinets and shelving for the en-suite – again in Walnut to continue the design through from the bedroom.
So impressed with our craftsmanship and creative designs, we were further commissioned to build even more wardrobes, this time for a child’s bedroom. Choosing a white satin lacquered finish, the wardrobes really complemented the room and gave it a classic feel that fitted in with the pink castles and fairytale bed.

The cupboards look really good and we are extremely pleased with the result. Read more…
